Kibera Slums

December.28.2009

We visited the place we will hold the Christmas party for the 400 kids in Africa’s 2nd largest slum. Wikipedia lists the population as between 235,000 and 1.2 million… all within a 1 square acre. We made our way to a school which is run for those kids who cannot afford the normal school fees. We were told before that there would 400 kids. I think there was more than that and we were told that many would probably bring their friends tomorrow… should be fun! We also walked through the slums before we left just to see what life was like there. Words really can’t express (nor the photos) what we saw/experienced. These photos will have to suffice.

Amazing photos to allow people to understand this humanitarian crisis. Here is an eBook our think tank has written on the topic; http://www.worldthinktank.net/pdfs/Nairobi.pdf
